How do I talk to a guy and become friends with him?

I started liking this guy at school, and for the first time I think I actually like because of his personality and how he treats people. I want to at least be friends with him, but the thing is that he is in none of my classes. I have tried appearing in his classes with my friends (who are in his classes), but I've never had the guts to just talk to him. Is there even a way to speak to a guy without looking random like that? He seems to be like, a sort of average teenager, not exactly like a loner but not popular either.

He seems friendly enough, but how do I start talking to him? Help please?

replies: well there are so many ways you can talk to him. but if the confidence is the big problem here, then i suggest a social sight :) Im 16 and have had the problem a few times, I think if you have something like msn, facebook, bebo or twitter etc? you could maybe add him, you'll have to try to find his email, or type him in on facebook. If hes at your schoool you shouuld have friends in common, so it wont look to strange, then the best thing to do is maybe just to him a comment, like sorry for a random add, (: hope you dont mind, or something. He should reply if hes pretty friendly. And if you know annyone who knows him well, you could try to find out something about him? his music taste, films he likes, where he hangs out (acciedntly on purpose bump into him!) I've tried all these before, and you'll find that its acc. quite fun :L Just try and have the confidence to leave him a comment, get talking, then when you see him, you can start with a casual wave etc and go from there. Im sure if your a genuine person (you sound it (:) and friendly you'll have something in common to get to know eachother through >.<

Anonymous replies: Try to find out if you have any common interests, you might both like the same sport or activity for example, this would be a good talking point. If your friends are friends with him, maybe you could get them to introduce you, and you could get talking that way? Good luck with it.
