Question Detail: My Mum has demntia

My Mum has demntia

I look after my Mum every day. I do not live with her but I can see that I will have to soon as she has just been told by her doctor that she has dementia. I don't mind this but I feel grief stricken like when my Dad died but she is not dead yet. Why do I feel like this when she is not even dead?

I had the same thing happen to me. You feel grief because you are seeing soemone you love disappear bfeor your eyes without actually dying. It was a relief when my uncle who had dementia actually died. It can be harder while they are still alive. There are plenty of support grouls out there, go to your GP or look online.
