Question Detail: Will I get financial help?

Will I get financial help?

I want to leave my job and move 500miles to live near my son and his family. Will I get financial help and somewhere to live. I can stay with my son for a short while but I am 56. Now and miss the grandchildren.

You need to have a good reason for the move, not just because you want to do it. Quitting your job may have an impact upon you seeking unemployment benefits but if you can source accomodation, you will be able to claim housing benefits if you remain out of work. To be honest, moving without accommodation or future income is not to be recommended. My advice? Find some work near your son, any work for now, and make the move. Stay with your son initially but have enough money behind you to fund a deposit on local accommodation, even if you have to claim housing benefits for a low income. But please do remember that funding a solitary lifestyle at age 56 can be very hard financially.

It would help if you told us what country or state you were in.
