27/01/2010 : I am 39 and went for a job interview just before Xmas. I got the job and they said I could start in the New Year.I started 2 weeks ago. The thing is the job I am doing is not the one I applied or was interviewed for. They told me that job did not exist when I sterted. The job I have is well below what I applied for and they are not paying me as much as they said they would. Is there anything Ican do about this?

19/01/2010 : I made friends with a woman a few months ago through a hobby of mine (stage performace). She seemed great at first (very friendly) but rapidly turned very intense and got into arguments with several other people we both know. I would get rung up by her over quite small things and constantly have to calm her down. I backed away from her a bit- as nothing I seemed to do really helped matters. I can't deny that some of the people she was rowing with were idiots- but my advice to simply step away from them fell on deaf ears.
She didn't seem able to help herself from rowing with people (rather than walking away). She also came to possess some knowledge of a person she had a row with and seems to have tried to ruin his career with it by passing it on to the most damaging person possible (stage performance being a hotbed of gossip!). There are lots of things I wish I had done differently, but now I am worried that she is going to try and ruin my reputation too- as the performance is something I'd really like to go into.
She is very outgoing and good at networking (above rows aside)- I feel that she may make a reputation up that will precede me and turn people away from me before I've actually met them! Help!
stuck in a rut at work

12/01/2010 : Hello. I have been back at work now for 1.5 weeks. My job is just as bad as I remember it before Xmas. I made a promise to myself that I would find a new job in the New Year but I can feel my determination ebbing away with every hour that passes of the New Year. How can I continue to motivate myself to get a more fulfilling job when my current one is so cushy?
Worried about working from home

02/01/2010 : Just before Xmas I found out that I will be working from home for 90% of the time from the new year. I don't want this. I am single and the only social life I get is at work. I just know that this will disappear once I work from home. Should In find another job? Has anyone else been thorugh this sort of thing. I guess this iswaht the Internet is for.
I am very lazy in my work.
